2020 Ride_Event Details

The Ride to Defeat ALS is a one-day cycling event, taking place this year on Saturday, June 11th, designed for people of all ages and riding abilities. The Ride is an opportunity to rally together, honor and remember our loved ones, and support our shared vision – to create a world without ALS. 

We offer five distance options - 100, 75, 50, 25, and 6 miles - the ride will be both starting and ending at Morey's Piers in Wildwood, NJ!

Every participant can count on support from start to finish with rest stops, SAG vehicles, and police along the route. Upon completing the Ride, participants are welcomed to the End Point at Morey’s Piers by cheering crowds and finish line festivities including entertainment, a delicious luncheon, and two complimentary weekend passes to Morey’s Piers Amusement and Water Parks! 

Event Schedule

Check-in begins 1 hour prior to each start time.

• 7:00 AM - 100 Mile and 75 Mile Start
• 8:00 AM - 50 Mile Start
• 9:00 AM - 25 Mile Start
• 10:00 AM - 6 Mile Start
• 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM - Cyclists return to the End Point Celebration at Morey’s Piers!


Registration Fee Schedule

Participants can choose to register as a Rider (no fundraising requirement) or a Fundraising Rider. If you register as a Rider, you will make a tax-deductible donation of $150 when you sign up, and you will not be required to raise additional funds to participate in the ride (although fundraising is always appreciated and encouraged). If you register as a Fundraising Rider, you will only pay the baseline registration fee upon signing up but will be required to raise a minimum of $150 in addition to the registration fee by June 30, 2021. The registration fee schedule is as follows:

Riders (No Fundraising Requirement)
Now through June 8th: $150
June 11th (In-Person Registration): $175

Fundraising Riders ($150 Fundraising Minimum)
Earlybird (Now through January 31st): $25 using code EarlyBird22
February 1st through June 8th: $50

Youth Riders (ages 17 and under)
Now through June 8th: $25
June 11th (In-Person Registration): $50

Virtual Riders
Free to register - Ride Your Way to Defeat ALS from wherever you call home!

 *IMPORTANT NOTE: In the event that we have to pivot entirely to a virtual event in 2022, registration fees will be converted to a meaningful donation and will be counted toward that participant's fundraising total. 


Suggested Fundraising Minimum

It is suggested that all participants 18 and older raise a minimum of $150 in donations to support the ALS community. Fundraising for The ALS Association is a very direct way of supporting our mission, and with each person you ask to support you, you are also spreading important awareness for ALS. Fundraising is easy and fun -- and we are here to help you get started and to surpass this fundraising goal!  If you are a first-time fundraiser or are interested in learning more, check out our Fundraising Tips and Tools. The Jersey Shore Ride to Defeat ALS will go on, rain or shine! Please check the local forecast before Event Day and we will do our best to keep all participants informed. The Greater Philadelphia Chapter reserves the right to alter the courses or start times in the case of weather conditions.

How To Get Involved Virtually

If you prefer to participate in the Jersey Shore Ride to Defeat ALS as a virtual rider, you are still a part of our community of hope. 
  • Be sure to register as a virtual participant for free!
  • Customize your participant page by sharing your story and telling the world why you ride or walk. (There are also a lot of great tools you can leverage in your participant center!) 
  • Recruit others to join you to support our ALS community.
  • Connect with us on our social media channels (linked below) and our Jersey Shore Ride to Defeat ALS Strava Club to share your story and your training for the Jersey Shore Ride. 
  • Start your fundraising today! Send an email or a text to your friends and loved ones, start a Facebook fundraiser from your participant center, or find a creative way to involve your friends and family in this fight to defeat ALS.

Rider Checklist

Be sure to keep a safe distance between you and any other cyclists and check in with CDC recommendations to stay safe!

*Helmet - Helmets are REQUIRED for ALL cyclists.
